Information

Anafi is located in the southern part of the Cyclades. It is a small island with few inhabitants. It is characterized by rocky and dry Mediterranean landscape and it is bathed by the Aegean Sea. On the southern coast of the island you will find beautiful sandy beaches while on the eastern part you can see Kalamos, the huge cliff that stands proudly in front of the vastness of the sea. This natural monument has special significance for the locals because of the two monasteries that are built there: the Monastery of Zoodochos Pigi and the Church of Panagia Kalamiotissa, the protector of Anafi. A variety of walking trails crosses the countryside of the island and allows hikers to experience the wild beauty of the landscape and enjoy unique views to the sea.

Hora is built amphitheatrically above the port of Agios Nikolaos and it is the only organized settlement of the island. It is a picturesque typical Cycladic village with arched single-room homes, cobblestone streets and whitewashed churches. In Hora, part of which is built inside the castle, there are no cars and this endows the place with a unique feeling of tranquility. Once you start walking you will find yourself in quiet corners and places offering spectacular views of the horizon merging with the sea.

Anafi is a secluded island and does not enjoy the touristic attention other Aegean islands have. Tourist infrastructure started being developed on the island the past few decades and this, of course, is always with respect to the traditional character of the place. Today Anafi attracts travelers seeking a relaxing holiday in unspoiled Aegean landscapes in the company of genuine and friendly people.
